Do you have a recommendation for an inexpensive, basic midi? I forgot that, in order to make a non-standard graphics driver work, my system is already set not to enforce driver signing. After an hour of trying this and that, I simply unplugged it from the USB port and plugged it back in. However, I would begin by downloading the most recent Windows driver for the UM-2 you can find, and then open the file archive and edit it in a similar manner to my instructions for the UM Very kind of you to tell me you have solved the problem. I am gutted… someone in these comments got it working for their Roland PC… any help would be massively appreciated.

One thing worth mentioning is that you need to make sure to disable the Driver Signature Enforcement option in Advanced Startup — once that was done this solution worked perfectly. It took me a while to figure this out because my device manager was not recognizing Unknown Device until I plugged in my UM I was very disappointed. Glad you got the hack working, however.

It acts like it is saving it, but when Edurol check, the changes are not being saved. Please be as detailed as you can with all error reports. I know damn well the old drivers WOULD work, but they have been signed for Vista, not 7, and so Windows will not allow me to install them, even experimentally. Could you folks possibly make it any harder to disable signed driver checking?

Last time I tried my edirol it said No to win10 -I nearly threw it in the trash! I plugged the new cable in and couldn’t get Finale to see it, even though the little light was blinking and Windows said it was installed and working properly. The computer will boot with this mode.

Anyway it is all working just fine on Windows 10 so again many thanks to everyone. I plugged it in and Windows 10 and Finale both recognized it. The error message you quoted is new to me, and I would not know how to progress with it. This is Bonnie again. Kidi like a charm! However, they may have the most solid product and customer support, in spite of my frustration about this one situation.

I read the article above and edited the RDIF I realize it’s cheap enough so one can throw it away if it doesn’t work At first when I plugged the UM1-X in it was not accepted. Thanks for the mkdi It was said very well by Leonard Bernstein in November Unpacking the archive means unzipping it, in this case.

In further researching this, it seems Windows 10 has the same option when updating drivers to choose a prior version of Windows in which the driver worked, so as to get a driver to work in compatibility mode.
